Results of OJSC DO “Vympel” production activity in January - September 2009

Within the period from January to September of the year the practical mastering of the market of designing large capacity ships has been continued as well as designing warships, ecological monitoring ships, ships and facilities of development of the continental shelf.

The “Vympel’s” experience in the international business partnership on development of classification designs, detail/workshop drawings has been consolidated due to collaboration with foreign companies (including designing to rules of DNV, Lloyd’s Register, Germanischer Lloyd).

The following works have been carried out by “Vympel” during this period:

1. The state trials of the first serial large hydrographic boat BGK-797)(design 19920) built at ОАО “Shipbuilding and ship-repair yard named after the October Revolution”, (city of Blagoveschensk) has been completed. OJSC DO “Vympel” is the only ship designer in Russia that designs hydrographic craft.

2. Technical support of the construction and preparation for commissioning is being carried out for the following ships:

- roads sea-going tug of 1200 kW power intended for ships towing and refloating, design 705B (Аstrakhan Shipbuilding-Repairing Yard of ОАO “Zvyozdochka”, city of Astrakhan);

- sea-going tug of power 2800 kW intended for ships towing and refloating, design 745B (OAO “Yaroslavsky SSZ”).

3. Development of the engineering design of a sea-going INF-3 Class ship (“Etna”)  is being carried out in cooperation with Italian company FINCANTIERI. The ship is intended for transportation of containers with irradiated nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.

4. ОАО “Оkskaya Shipyard” (city of Navashino) has launched for outfitting and trials the hull of the type chemical tanker of design 00216. The tanker is being constructed for Malaysian company АЕТ.

5. Technical support of the construction of the second 12000 dwt tanker (design 00215) is being carried out at ОАО “Zelenodolsk Shipyard named after M.Gorky”.  The ship is intended for carriage of crude oil and mazut in bulk with provision of heating. The operation area: the Caspian Sea with possibility of a single passage through the Volga-Baltic Waterway.

The architectural and design concept:  tanker with cargo accommodated in integrated and slop tanks. The ship’s steerability is provided by means of a steerable propeller system,  bow and aft thrusters. The tanker is equipped with an integrated system of monitoring and control of the shipboard technical facilities. Provision is made for a PC enabling strength and stability monitoring while ship loading. Safe operation of the tanker is increased through installation of an inert gases system.

6. By means of transport pontoonSevan” (design 426МВ, entered the service in 2009) positioning of the drilling rig LSP-1 has been carried out in the Caspian North.

The operation at sea has been made based on the calculations made by “Vympel”.

7. The engineering design of re-equipment and update of the transport shipYauza” (design 550) has been completed.

8. The Murmansk Ship Repair Yard is completing conversion of boat PSK-1412 into the boat of ecological monitoring with a view to estimate and forecast on the ecological state of the air and water basins of the Caspian Sea (project “Shchupaltsa-1”). The conversion design has been developed by DO “Vympel”. The boat is equipped with a modern domestic complex intended for defining the level and character of contamination of the natural surface waters

9. An engineering design of the railway/car/passenger ferry (design 00650) has been developed and approved by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS).

The ferry will serve the ferry crossing between ports Ust-Luga, Baltijsk, Sassnitz (Germany).

10. An engineering design 22440 of the 3200 kW tug has been developed by the joint venture OOO “Krylev-Vympel engineering”, approved by supervision bodies and the customer (OOO “Gasflot”).

The tug is designed to perform towing and berthing operations with MODU self-elevating,  MODU, vessels, barges, and other floating facilities, conveyance of workmen teams, delivery of cargoes to drilling rigs, as well as fire fighting on other vessels and in ports, roadsteads, coastal areas and in arctic seas in compliance with the RS class.

11. A design study of the sea-going tug of power 5100 kW (design “Storm” of DO “Vympel”) has been carried out. The tug is intended for patrol in the open sea, rendering assistance to ships in distress, performing underwater technical works.

12. The construction of the 18000 dwt chemical tanker at OAO “Amur Shipyard” is going on (design 18500 of  OJSC DO “Vympel”).

13. OJSC DO “Vympel” took part in the 10th International Exhibition Neva-2009 on shipbuilding, shipping, ports activity, continental shelf and ocean development (St.Petersburg, September 22-25, 2009).

There were presented at the Exhibition the latest designs/studies of “Vympel” for the following important lines of work:  transport fleet, vessels and technical facilities for shelf development, ships of the atomic and technological support, etc. In particular, there was presented at the stand of “Vympel” detail information about the new design of the railway/ car/passenger ferry for the line Ust-Luga-Baltijsk-Sassnitz (Germany) developed by request of OAO “Rosmorport”.

Besides, the work of the Design Office in the field of fishing and scientific/ research vessels within the Federal Target Program “The enhancement of the efficiency of the use and development of the resource potential of the fishing household complex in 2009- 2013” was presented. The presentation was supported by video materials.
