From the start of the carriage of railway cars by ferries till now the «VYMPEL» Design Office performs the design of railway ferries.

It was designed and built ferries for the carriage of railway trains:

through the river Amur near Komsomolsk - 4 units;
through the Kerch strait between the ports Krym and Caucasus - 4 units;
through the Caspian Sea between the ports Baku and Krasnovodsk - 5 units;
through the Tartar strait between the ports Vanino and Kholmsk 10 units.

It was designed and built ferries for the carriage of road and other equipment:

for Sebastopol ferrying: 3 units;
for ferrying through straits of Moonsund archipelago in Estonia - 4 units;
for ferrying through Volga-Kama basin and Bukhtamirsk water basin - 6 units;
for ferrying Lomonosov - Kronstadt - 4 units.

It was developed a project of a ferry for Krym - Caucasus ferrying. Also it was worked out promising versions of railway/car ferries for the Caspian and Black seas.
