The «VYMPEL» Design Office for Shipbuilding was founded in 1927. More than 1 000 ships of different type and purpose were built in total at shipbuilding plants of the country before 1941. In general, there were tugboats, dry cargo barges, passenger and cargo steamers and motor ships.

In 1941...1945, the DOS «VYMPEL» worked out orders relating to the defense of the country.

Since 1945, the DOS «VYMPEL» is occupied with the design of river and sea-going dry cargo and tank ships, railway ferries, floating electric power plants, continental shelf supply ships, air cushion vessels and other floating facilities.

Within a period from 1946 to 1990, the DOS developed about 200 projects on the basis of which it was built more than 2 000 ships.

Last years the DOS specializes in designing ships in compliance with the rules not only of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping but also of other Classification Societies, works in close contact with suppliers of shipboard equipment from Russia, Germany, Sweden, Finland, France, Holland and other countries.

A reach experience in designing ships, possibility to work outship's lines in a proper model testing basin, certification of workmanship in compliance with ISO 9001-2001, allow to ensure a high technical level and competitiveness of the designed ships.

The DOS «VYMPEL» is prepared to assist Customers as follows:

development of design documentation for new ships in compliance with any rules of European Classification Societies;
search of an concerned shipyard in Russia and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) to realize offers of the Customer relating to the construction of ships;
working out of classification designs for the conversion of Russian ships at Western Europe shipyards;
placing of European shipboard completing equipment on ships new built in Russia;
establishment of business relations between European suppliers of shipboard equipment and Russian manufacturers of the same equipment;
engineering during the construction of ships.
