The design of sea-going transport ships is one of basic orientations of the DOS «VYMPEL»'s activity.
In the fifties, a large series of sea-going cotton/timber carriers was built on the basis of projects prepared by the Design Office. These ships operated at the Black, Mediterranean and Red seas.
In the sixties, on the basis of the above mentioned ships, it was developed projects and then it was built universal dry cargo motor vessels of 3800 - 5500 t deadweight, with relevant modifications adapted to operate within coastal arctic areas. In total, it was built 90 vessels.
In 1994-1997, 10 ships of 2900 t deadweight each was built by project of DOS «VYMPEL» for a class of Lloyd's Register for North-Western Sipping Company as the Owner.

Since 1994, by project of «VYMPEL», there are under construction river/sea-going dry cargo motor ships of 3700 t deadweight each for the carriage of general cargos and ISO Standard containers. It was built 2 units.

By order from «MAHART» (Hungary), it was designed a multi-purpose dry cargo motor vessel of 4500 deadweight for a class of Germanischer Lloyd. The construction of the first and the subsequent ships is carried out by Astrakhan maritime shipyard.

The DOS is able to propose a design of a sea-going container ship of 12800 t deadweight.

Work is also carried out concerning other promising transport ships. As basis of the designs of new ships the requirements are kept: increase the efficiency of ships by reducing the manufacturing cost, increasing the carrying capacity at min. operating expenses.
