The DOS «VYMPEL» developed a large number of projects of special purpose ships. In 1973 it worked out a project on the basis of which an yacht of the President of Russia was buil.

Within a period from 1970 to 1978, 6 floating gas-turbine electric power plants of 24000 power each were built on the basis of a project developed by DOS «VYMPEL» for North-Eastern regions of Russia. The floating electric power plants are mobile and compact power sources and the delivery to their place of operation was performed by waterways.

In 80-th, it was designed and built 2 units of special purpose transports for reception, storage, processing and carriage of liquid and solid RAW (radioactive waste).

Under the technical guidance of DOS «VYMPEL» a nonself-propelled ship for liquid radioactive waste (LRW) filling, storage and carriage is under construction at JSC «NIZHEGORODSKY TEPLOKHOD» works.

In 1998, a barge-mounted LRW processing plant of a capacity of 35 m³/day was built at Komsomolsk-on-Amur shipyard on the basis of a project developed by DOS «VYMPEL» and «McDERMOTT SHIPBUILDING».

In 50 - 60th, the DOS «VYMPEL» developed some projects of sea floating cranes.

Engineers of DOS «VYMPEL» make great progress in the field of bridge-pontoon facilities. Floating bridges built by large series, for wheel and crawler machinery is used not only in Russia but also in other countries. It was built more than 400 units.

For developing the shelf the Design Office worked out a transport-mounting vessel allowing to carry out the mounting at sea of modules of upper structures of off-shore platforms to fixed supports.
